Around 11:30 p.m. last night (9/4/18) while on a traffic stop on 460 west of Bedford, a Bedford County Sheriff’s deputy observed a dark color Mustang traveling east bound at a high rate of speed. A short time later, while attempting to locate the suspect car, BCSO deputies found the Mustang on Irving Road. The Mustang had run off the roadway breaking a wheel and flattening a tire. When the deputies attempted to arrest Russell K. Orange, age 30, he resisted and kicked one the deputies in the ribs.
Russell K. Orange III, of Thaxton, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Felonious Assault of a Police Officer. Deputies also arrested Orange’s father, Russell K. Orange Jr., age 59, with Public Intoxication.
The deputy was examined at the hospital and released.
